Why I Established Signature Assessments Limited

Throughout my career, particularly through my involvement in care proceedings and the scrutiny of assessments, I have developed a strong appreciation of the importance of thorough, analytical and evidence-based assessment practice.

I believe that a meaningful assessment must go beyond presenting information. It should provide detailed evidence, critically analyse risk and its impact on a child's lived experience, explore parenting capacity and the potential for change, and clearly explain how professional conclusions have been reached.

I established Signature Assessments Limited with a commitment to producing assessments that offer clarity, direction and practical recommendations. This includes identifying what changes may be achievable, the support required to achieve them and realistic timescales for progress.

My aim is to provide assessments that not only inform decision-making but offer local authorities, legal professionals and the courts a clear understanding of the options available, while ensuring that children's safety, welfare and long-term needs remain at the centre of every recommendation.

DIRECTOR| Independent Social Worker

Katie Holmes

With over nine years of dedicated experience in children's services and a prior eight-year career within the South Wales Police, I bring a unique and comprehensive perspective on safeguarding, risk assessment, and family dynamics to my work at Signature Assessments Limited.

My professional journey has taken me through the complexities of frontline child protection, complex family assessments, court proceedings, senior social work practice, and the vital duties of an Independent Reviewing Officer. My time in policing was equally foundational, sharpening my ability to navigate high-pressure situations, manage risk, and communicate effectively with people from all walks of life while collaborating closely with multi-agency partners.

I take great pride in my ability to foster positive, meaningful relationships with individuals during what are often the most challenging periods of their lives. I believe in the power of listening without judgment. My goal is always to create a safe space where you feel respected, understood, and heard, ensuring that everyone involved can engage openly with the process.

My approach centers on child-focused, relational social work. By balancing compassionate empathy with a rigorous analytical lens and constructive inquiry, I ensure that prioritizing the welfare of the child remains the foundation of every professional interaction and safeguarding decision.
